Learning to Reef the Catalina 22

We needed to examine the reefing system on our Catalina, as there was lack of clarity on what the standard operating procedure for the club would be.

I found this diagram online to be extremely helpful, and matched it to the reefing setup I saw on our boat. All we had to do was add the lines at the front and back of the sail

Here you can see here how we use the cleat on the boom
reefing line coming off the rear of the sail and through the block
The line runs from the rear of the sail, through this block, along the boom and to a cleat
reefing line in the front of the sail cleated to the mast
This is the reefing line off the front of the sail – cleated to the mast.
